Rio Ferdinand has slated the decision to hand Harry Kane the official Man of the Match award after England beat Senegal 3-0 last night.
The Tottenham Hotspur striker was one of the key players in his nation’s battering of the AFCON champions in the World Cup last-16 clash.
It was the 29-year-old who doubled the Three Lions’ lead with a coolly-taken finish in the 48th minute.

Kane headed into the contest with 3 assists to his name.
However, he was yet to get on the scoresheet at the showpiece event.
But the England captain was off the mark against Senegal in yet another fine all-round display on Sunday.
Scoring his 2nd ever goal in a World Cup knockout round, the Spurs vice-captain showcased how vital he is to the side once again.
Ferdinand disagrees with Kane getting the Man of the Match
Rio Ferdinand criticised the decision to give Harry Kane the Man of the Match, as England beat Senegal 3-0 in convincing fashion.
“Who gave him [Harry Kane] Man of the Match?”, he asked via his official YouTube channel.
“Wow! They just must’ve wanted a photo opportunity because [Jude] Bellingham was the standout player.”
It’s hard to argue against Ferdinand’s take
While Kane was brilliant in the Round of 16 clash, Ferdinand is right in emphasising that Bellingham deserved to win the Man of the Match.
The 19-year-old was influential in 2 out of the 3 goals on the night.
And overall, the youngster ran the show for England once again.
While there were other standouts like the 79-capped goalscorer and Phil Foden, Jude Bellingham was far and away the best player on the pitch.
While some may perceive his take as controversial, Rio Ferdinand is right in saying that Harry Kane was not the ideal candidate to win the Man of the Match after England put Senegal to the sword.
