Speaking on the Wrighty’s House Podcast, Ian Wright has given his view on the Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang situation at Arsenal.

The Gunners have made the decision to strip Aubameyang of his captaincy after his disciplinary breach, and he’s also been frozen out of the squad.

Aubameyang has missed Arsenal’s last two league matches, and while Gunners supporters aren’t best pleased with him, Ian Wright says that he feels sorry for the striker, claiming that he truly loves the club.

What’s been said about Aubameyang?

Wright gave his view on Aubameyang.

“You know what? I do feel for him. Especially now with him being stripped of the captaincy. Auba loves the club. He knew that this contract was the one, I was with him on the pitch and we spoke about his legacy and what he wants to do,” Wright said.

“If it’s a problem with lateness sometimes you have to say ‘yes, you’re right, I’ll take it on the chin and we can move on from it’. Now though, people want to harbour on it. People say ‘Auba ah, Ozil oh what’s going on?’ But I don’t think we should be doing that. Let him get on with it now. It’s not like we have someone in the wings who is killing it right now,” Wright said.

Hard to move on

Wright says that Arsenal and the fanbase should move on from this incident with Aubameyang, but that’s easier said than done.

Let’s not forget, this isn’t the first issue Aubameyang has had at Arsenal. He missed the north London derby last season due to lateness, while his form has been poor for quite some time.

We don’t know the ins and outs of what’s happened behind the scenes, but unless Aubameyang proves his commitment to the cause, it may be tough for him the manager and the fans to forgive him.
