The January transfer window is almost upon us and one player who has been at the centre of a lot of speculation is George Hall.

The Birmingham City youngster is a wanted man. Liverpool are reportedly keen on the midfielder, while Leeds United have been tracking him for ages at this point.

It seems almost certain that Hall will be leaving St Andrews in January, but which club will he join?

Of course, Liverpool may be the more alluring destination in many people’s eyes. After all, they’re one of the most successful clubs in England in recent years and have arguably the best manager in the world at the helm.

However, in our view, Hall should join Leeds United.

Indeed, at the age of just 18, there really aren’t many better clubs to be at than Leeds.

The Whites have shown time and time again that they’re willing to hand prominent roles to young players if they’re good enough, just look at the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Crysencio Summerville and Sam Greenwood, while at Liverpool, the route to the first-team is much trickier.

Of course, you have outliers such as Harvey Elliott and Trent Alexander-Arnold, but by-and-large, it’s tough for any youngster to break into the team at Anfield unless they’re seriously special.

Even then, that may not be enough for a player like Hall.

The competition for midfield spots amongst youngsters at Anfield is ultra-competitive too. Harvey Elliott, as we’ve mentioned, has already established himself, Curtis Jones is returning from injury, while Bobby Clark is excelling within the youth ranks while Tyler Morton shines on loan.

Hall would need to do something incredible to see first-team minutes at Liverpool over the next couple of seasons, while, at Leeds, he’d be given a real pathway into the side, which is what a player of this age needs.

A move to a club like Liverpool may well be Hall’s ultimate goal one day, but if he wants to take the next step in his career, Leeds is the logical next step for the ‘fantastic’ youngster.
