Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno has told BT Sports that Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier played very well against his side.

Leeds suffered a 1-0 defeat to Wolves away from home at Molineux Stadium in the Premier League on Friday evening,

An own goal from Meslier in the second half proved to be the difference between the two sides.

It was a freaky goal. Wolves winger Adama Traore’s ferocious effort from outside the box came back off the woodwork, hit Meslier in the back and went in.

Wolves boss Nuno has said that it was hard for Meslier regarding the goal, and he also praised the 20-year-old Frenchman.

Nuno told BT Sports: “Of course, very hard, but the goalkeeper did very well, made a fantastic save in the first half. Both goalkeepers were really active in the game.”

Illan Meslier was just unlucky

It was a brilliant strike from Traore, and no goalkeeper could have kept it out.

Meslier was just unlucky that the ball hit his back and went in. No one can blame the Frenchman for the goal.

The 20-year-old made a very bad mistake against Arsenal in the Premier League last weekend, but the custodian did well against Wolves overall.

The goalkeeper denied Pedro Neto in the first half and looked comfortable between the posts throughout the 90 minutes.
