Fabrizio Romano has told Caught Offside that it would take a “crazy bid” for Bayern Munich to sell Leroy Sane in the January window – amid reports he is one of three players Arsenal have been in talks to sign, before Jesus’ injury.
Jesus, 25, has picked up a knee injury that required surgery – and will now be on the sidelines for at least the next three months. So, Arsenal need a replacement. CM claim the Gunners have shelved talks to land the Bayern Munich player.
The report claims Arsenal were in talks for Sane alongside Marco Asensio and Mykhaylo Mudryk. Bayern’s no.10 is in excellent form this season, having a hand in 16 goals in 19 games for Bayern. But, Germany struggled in Qatar.
Sane will now be resting; Bayern not in action until January 20. It gives Arsenal plenty of time to thrash out a deal for Sane if they wanted to – forming a reunion between him and Mikel Arteta. They worked together at Manchester City.

While not a direct striker, he is certainly able to add goals to Arteta’s side. Perhaps, allowing Gabriel Martinelli to play up top. But Romano says that it would take a “crazy” offer comes in for the Schalke academy product in January.
“There has beenspeculation, but there are no talks between Bayern and Arsenal for Sane as of today. I don’t see Bayern selling Sane in January unless a crazy bid arrives – their plan is to continue with him,” Romano told Caught Offside.
Romano: It would take crazy bid for Bayern to sell Sane to Arsenal
Sane cost Bayern a fee of £55million in the summer of 2020 and has three years remaining on his contract the Allianz. This season is certainly his best in terms of form, coming into the campaign with just 24 goals in 89 appearances.
But he is now scoring at a better rate of one every two games and Bayern will be desperate to keep him. Arsenal do need a striker, and Sane could give them a bit of a makeshift replacement for Jesus. But he is certainly not a no.9.
