Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to provide an update on Paulo Dybala, amid talk of Arsenal and Tottenham wanting to bring him to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, the reliable Italian has provided bad news for the Spurs fans who wanted to see Dybala in N17.

Romano believes the Argentina international has “never been an option for Spurs” as Antonio Conte and Fabio Paratici weigh up their transfer targets for the summer.

Now, that has poured cold water on the speculation, although in some ways, it comes as good news for Arsenal.

The Gunners are believed to have opened talks with Dybala over a move to the Emirates Stadium, with the South American set to leave Juventus for nothing when his contract expires next month.

So, if Tottenham really aren’t interested, then that at least means Arsenal have one less side to fend off in the race for his signature.

Newcastle are also said to be keen on signing the 28-year-old, and have allegedly sent him a contract offer.

So far this season, Dybala has scored 15 goals in 38 games, while also providing six assists.

Arsenal need Paulo Dybala more than Tottenham

If Arsenal don’t make a serious push to sign Dybala, we’ll be baffled.

Aside from the inexperienced Folarin Balogun, Mikel Arteta only has two striking options in Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah.

However, both forwards see their contracts expire next month, and by the sounds of it, neither will be signing new deals.

Arsenal want Nketiah to renew his terms, although it seems the 22-year-old could depart in search of regular first-team football.

So, if Arteta and Edu fail to make a significant push for Dybala, we’ll be very surprised – he’d be perfect for the Gunners, and wouldn’t break the bank either.

Keep an eye on this saga, as anything could happen this summer.
