Speaking on the Cheese Room Podcast YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about Franck Kessie amid reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.

It was reported earlier this week that Spurs want to bring Kessie to the club this month in order to beat the summer rush when he may potentially be available on a free transfer.

However, while Spurs may want to sign Kessie this month, it won’t be easy.

Indeed, Fabrizio Romano claims that while Spurs have a genuine interest, there are two reasons why it will be a very hard deal to conclude.

What’s been said about Kessie?

Romano shared what he knows about Kessie.

“The interest from Tottenham is genuine. They like the player, it’s not just Tottenham, other English clubs and Spanish clubs are keeping tabs on his situation. In the January window it will be super difficult for two reasons. He’s a key player for AC Milan, they need him, so I think it will be super difficult, and also because the player is at the African Cup of Nations, so it’s not easy to complete the negotiation while he’s away with his national team,” Romano said.

Tough

This is going to be an incredibly tough deal to do.

AC Milan are in a title race for the first time in a while over in Italy, so the last thing they want to be doing right now is selling a key player.

Yes, they will be able to receive a fee if he is sold, but at the same time, Spurs don’t want to be overpaying for a player who could be available for free in a few months’ time.

Sadly, this deal looks like it may have to wait.
