Tottenham Hotspur are now desperate to sign AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie – and want to make an offer now to avoid a summer fight.

That’s according to The Telegraph, Tottenham want to secure Kessie’s signature this month and are considering a bid.

Kessie’s contract expires at the end of the season, meaning he is able to leave Milan for absolutely nothing in a matter of months.

Tottenham believe there will be a major scramble when Kessie is a free agent, so they want to sign him for a fee now.

In December, The Express claimed that Tottenham were in advanced talks to sign Kessie, possibly on a pre-contract agreement.

That hasn’t happened just yet, but Tottenham may now go to Milan with a bag of cash and dreams of signing Kessie this month.

Kessie, 25, has become one of Europe’s top box-to-box midfield players during his time with Milan.

That was supposed to be Tanguy Ndombele’s role at Tottenham, but it’s clear that he has no part to play under Antonio Conte.

Kessie has bagged five goals from midfield in 16 Serie A games this season, showing he can make a big impact going forward.

Praised as ‘very special’ by BBC pundit Pat Nevin, Kessie won’t be short of suitors when his Milan deal expires this summer.

Make no mistake, this would be an enormous coup if Tottenham can pull it off.

Fabio Paratici will have to pull out all the stops to make it happen, but the lure of playing for Antonio Conte could be huge.

Add in that Tottenham look to have a great chance of qualifying for the Champions League and Tottenham will have real hope of securing Kessie.
