Speaking on the Arsenal Lounge YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been speaking about Arsenal and their interest in James Maddison.
Numerous outlets have reported on Arsenal’s interest in Maddison this summer, and it seems as though the Leicester City man is one of the Gunners’ top targets.
Romano says Maddison is highly-rated by people at Arsenal, claiming that they believe the midfielder is perfect for their style of play.
What’s been said?
Romano has shared an update on the Gunners’ potential move for Maddison.
“My feeling on Maddison has always been, talking with people close to Leicester, is that it will be really difficult because the price is so high,” Romano said.
“It will be really, really difficult to sign him this summer. It’s true that Arsenal have an interest in the player, it’s true that they consider him perfect for their playstyle, so they consider him as a potentially fantastic signing, but at the moment it’s complicated with Leicester, so if the conditions change, maybe they can try, but at the moment, it’s not an advanced negotiation.”

Perfect
Would Maddison be perfect for Arsenal’s style of play?
Well, Martin Odegaard looked like a perfect fit for Mikel Arteta’s system last season, and Maddison shares certain traits with the Norwegian, mainly in the fact that they’re both incredibly creative players.
Maddison would also provide a real goal threat as well as being a set-piece specialist, so he’d be a fantastic addition for the Gunners.
Arsenal clearly want to get this one done, but as Romano says, it’s going to be complicated.
