According to Fabrizio Romano, Aston Villa have now agreed personal terms with Robin Olsen as they look to bring him back to the Premier League.

What’s the story?

Well, Aston Villa are looking for a new glovesman to provide backup for Emiliano Martinez, and Steven Gerrard looks to have found his man.

Personal terms have been agreed with the 53-cap Sweden international, and now, Romano believes the decision rests with Sheffield United.

Olsen – who spent time at Everton last season – is currently on loan at Sheffield United from Roma.

Romano claims it’s now up to the Blades to decide whether they want to keep the 32-year-old until the end of his season-long loan, or let him go early.

So far this season, the shot-stopper hasn’t been in the greatest form.

In 11 Championship appearances, Olsen has conceded 17 goals while keeping just one clean sheet.

Aston Villa’s interest in the Swede comes after talkSPORT revealed a move for West Ham goalkeeper Darren Randolph collapsed.

While Olsen is unlikely to oust Martinez from in between the sticks, he’s a reliable figure who Gerrard can count on.

For one, he has an exceptional amount of experience at the highest level.

Olsen has made several appearances at both the World Cup and the European Championship, where he has starred for Sweden.

The Malmö-born goalkeeper has also made 18 appearances in the Champions League, Europe’s greatest club competition.

Even if he doesn’t get onto the pitch, his experience should prove invaluable in the dressing room at Villa Park.

Keep an eye on this saga – if Sheffield United give the green light, it could be completed pretty quickly.
