TalkSPORT journalist Alex Crook has reported on Twitter that Aston Villa may not be able to sign Darren Randolph from West Ham United in the January transfer window.
The well-known and well-respected journalist had earlier claimed that Villa were set to sign goalkeeper Randolph on loan from Premier League rivals West Ham.
The Villans reportedly want the 34-year-old Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper as a back-up to Emiliano Martinez.
However, Crook is now reporting that at the moment it looks likely that Randolph will stay at West Ham, meaning a transfer blow for Villa.
Darren Randolph rumour
Leaving West Ham United for Aston Villa
In our view, there is no point in Randolph leaving West Ham for Villa on a loan deal.
The 34-year-old is struggling for playing time at the Hammers at the moment, and that is unlikely to change at Villa.

Łukasz Fabiański and Alphonse Areola are ahead of Randolph in the pecking order at the Hammers.
Martinez is the clear first-choice goalkeeper at Villa.
If Randolph, who has a contract at West Ham until the summer of 2023, leaves the Hammers even on loan in January, then he should find a club where he will play regularly.
