Fabrizio Romano has said on The Arsenal Lounge that Arsenal want as much as €35 million (£30.15 million) for Joe Willock.

Willock is on loan at Newcastle United from Arsenal at the moment and is doing exceptionally well for the Magpies.

The 21-year-old midfielder has played a big role in the Magpies being safe from relegation from the Premier League.

Willock has scored six goals in 12 Premier League matches for the Magpies, and his latest performance – against Manchester City on Friday evening – impressed by some Arsenal fans.

Newcastle manager Steve Bruce has already said that he wants to keep Willock at the club next season, with The Telegraph reporting that Arsenal want £20 million for the youngster.

Well-known and well-respected journalist Romano has claimed that Arsenal will look for as much as €35 million (£30.15 million) to just start talks.

Romano said about Willock on The Arsenal Lounge: “Arsenal are not going to accept €15 million or €12 million or €20 million. They want around €30 million, €35 million to start negotiations. Let’s see if they can find an agreement.”

A transfer fee of €35 million (£30.15 million) for a midfielder out on loan does seem a bit too much, but Arsenal hold all the cards regarding the future of Willock.

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta could easily reintegrate Willock into his team if no club is willing to pay what the Gunners want.

Given the goals that the midfielder is scoring from midfield for Newcastle, keeping Willock in the team next season would not be a bad idea at all.
