According to Fabrizio Romano, Manchester United could soon make Marcos Rojo available for free, following links to Newcastle and Sheffield United.
The transfer specialist was speaking on the latest edition of his Here We Go podcast, which came out at 3pm today.
When the 61-cap Argentina international came up, the Italian journalist said: “Rojo is waiting for Boca Juniors. If no club will make a move for the player before the last day of the window, he would be available for free for one week.”
Manchester United’s decision on their £16 million man speaks volumes.
Rojo’s contract at Old Trafford doesn’t end until June. However, it seems as if the Red Devils simply want him, and his £80,000-a-week wages, gone.

While that might potentially be sad news for the 30-year-old, it should come as welcome news to Newcastle and Sheffield United.
Chris Wilder’s side were linked with the former Sporting Lisbon man after a revelation from Duncan Castles on The Transfer Window Podcast.
Speaking back in December, Castles said that Rojo was keen on a move to Bramall Lane, although eventually, no transfer materialised.

Elsewhere, The Athletic revealed that Steve Bruce was pursuing a loan deal for the South American, with that revelation again coming in December.
Seeing as that was not too long ago, we would presume that the two Premier League sides found Romano’s update very intriguing.
With just days until the end of the transfer window, Rojo’s situation is certainly one to keep an eye on.
