Fabio Paratici hasn’t quite been the transformative Sporting Director at Tottenham that many hoped he would be.

Yes, he’s done a decent job, but after almost 18 months in the role, Spurs haven’t really moved up in the footballing world.

Paratici’s business has been decent if not spectacular. Signings such as Richarlison, Djed Spence and Yves Bissouma in the summer haven’t quite gone to plan, while Ivan Perisic and Cristian Romero are looking like inspired signings.

There’s no doubt about it though, Paratici’s greatest masterstroke at Spurs came last January when he struck a double-deal with Juventus to bring both Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur to the club in the winter transfer window.

These signings were transformative and they gave Spurs the extra spark they needed to get into the top four last season.

Tottenham could really do with another January like that, and, excitingly, it looks like Paratici could have another brilliant double-deal up his sleeve.

Indeed, according to Portuguese outlet, Record, Spurs are lining up a double swoop for two stars from Sporting – Pedro Porro and Marcus Edwards.

Just like last January, Paratici is planning on using his contacts to sign two players from the same club to plug two problem positions at Spurs, and it’s not hard to believe that these two could have a similar effect to Kulusevski and Bentancur last year.

Porro would solve one of Tottenham’s biggest problems down the right – with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Spurs think he’s the perfect Conte player, while Edwards is an incredible attacker who has been tipped for the ballon d’Or in the past.

Say what you will about Paratici’s business, but he got last January spot on and it looks like he could be about to repeat that trick with another outstanding double-deal.
