Speaking on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano has been discussing Spurs’ pursuit of Pedro Porro and how Tottenham feel about this player.

It’s been reported for a number of weeks now that Spurs are very keen on Porro, and according to Romano, Tottenham believe that the Spaniard is absolutely perfect for Antonio Conte’s style of play.

Interestingly, it had previously been reported that Spurs were unsure about Porro’s physicality suiting Conte’s system, but now, Romano is led to believe that Spurs are completely convinced by the wing-back.

Porro is perfect

Romano discussed how Spurs feel about this young man.

“Today we had an update on the Tottenham situation. For Tottenham it is important to find young players with a good price and a normal salary – nothing crazy. We know they are looking for a right-back, and I am told that Pedro Porro, playing for Sporting, a good player, is their top priority at right-back,” Romano said.

“Tottenham appreciate the player, Tottenham love the player, they consider him perfect for Antonio Conte’s football, but there is an important point now about Sporting. When the manager signed a new contract in that meeting Sporting told him no big players would leave in January. Pedro Porro does have a €45m release clause, while Man City have a buy-back clause for €25m.”

Just what Spurs need

If Tottenham have been lacking anything since Conte took over at the club it’s a good right-wing-back.

With all due respect, both Emerson Royal and Matt Doherty haven’t been up to scratch over the past 18 months or so, while Conte is point-blank refusing to use Djed Spence.

Porro will seemingly plug one huge problem area in this Spurs squad, and he could prove to be just what the doctor ordered for the north London club.

Now, Spurs just need to finalise this deal.
