FA Cup prize money has become a trending topic after the likes of Manchester United, Tottenham, West Ham and Grimsby took part in the 5th round.
The latter remarkably knocked out Southampton to reach the Quarter-Final stage, where they will be joined by Burnley, Brighton, Fulham, Blackburn Rovers, Sheffield United, Manchester United and Manchester City.
With the FA Cup 5th round now over, let’s take a look at how much money those involved were awarded.
FA Cup prize money 2023
Well, those who won their FA Cup 5th round ties have been awarded £225,000.
Those who suffered defeat – such as Tottenham and West Ham – will receive £120,000.

In truth, that is not a lot of money in the context of modern day football – for example, that £225,000 wouldn’t even be enough for Manchester United to pay Anthony Martial’s wages for one week.
The France international is said to earn £250,000-a-week at Old Trafford.
However, for the likes of Grimsby, that is a hugely significant amount of cash.
The League Two side’s highest earner is John McAtee on £4,100-a-week.
Therefore, the £225,000 in prize money that Grimsby have been awarded by the FA will prove to be a welcome bonus for them in a financial respect, and will open up new opportunities for them as they sit 16th in League Two.
