Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has told the club’s official website that midfielder Fabio Carvalho suffered an injury against Everton away from home at Goodison Park in the Merseyside derby on Saturday afternoon.
Carvalho was in action for Liverpool in the Premier League game against Everton.
The 20-year-old, who can operate as a winger or attacking midfielder, started on the left of a midfield-three.
Carvalho, who moved to Liverpool from Fulham in the summer transfer window for £5 million (The Athletic), was taken off at half time.
Liverpool boss Klopp has said that the decision was made due to an injury to Carvalho, and is hopeful that it is not serious.
Jurgen Klopp on Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho
Klopp told Liverpool’s official website about Carvalho: “It’s not bad. I think it is extremely painful, it is a dead leg on the muscle above the knee and he couldn’t bend the knee anymore. When this muscle swells up, there is no space for anything else.
“We have to now see how quickly that will settle. You could see he tried, but you could see he couldn’t run properly. We just waited for half-time and then made the change with Bobby.”

Staying positive
In our view, Liverpool fans should be optimistic about the situation of Fabio Carvalho.
Klopp’s comments suggest that the 20-year-old’s injury is not serious, and hopefully for Liverpool, he will be back in action soon.
The Reds are having bad luck with injuries, especially in midfield.
Jordan Henderson, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and Curtis Jones all are on the sidelines at the moment.
Yes, Arthur Melo has moved to Liverpool, but Klopp really cannot afford any more injuries now.
