Arsenal target Ardon Jashari is catching the eye of many Bundesliga clubs with some experts insisting that the Switzerland international could emulate Jude Bellingham’s rapid rise at Borussia Dortmund, according to Sky Germany.

Ok, maybe Luzern coach Mario Frick is not the most neutral of observers. But whenever a player is being described as ‘the greatest talent’ in the country – even if it’s his own manager making those claims – its usually worth paying attention.

“For me, Jashari is the greatest talent in Switzerland,” Frick says of his 20-year-old prized asset, who has captained Luzern in five of their seven Swiss Super League games so far in 2022/23.

“He’s really good! I think this role (as one of the club’s captains) will give him an extra push.”

It certainly seems to have done the trick. Sky Germany say that a minimum of six Bundesliga clubs have joined Arsenal in the race for a player who admitted only a couple of days ago that he would relish the opportunity to follow in Granit Xhaka’s footsteps.

Xhaka, of course, spent four years at Borussia Monchengladbach before joining the Gunners in 2016.

“(Comparisons with Xhaka) make me incredibly proud,” Jashari explains. “But I have to keep my feet on the ground and continue to perform. Following a career path like Xhaka’s would be a dream.

“When I sit at a table with (older) players, they quickly realise that I’m a mature person. That’s how the players know me.”

Many in Jashari’s homeland, Sky add, believe the once-capped midfielder has the talent, the potential and the drive to follow in a certain England international’s footsteps. The ‘next Bellingham’ or not; Jashari is unlikely to spend much longer at a Luzern side who finished second-bottom in Switzerland’s top flight last term.

You can certainly see where those Xhaka comparisons are coming from, meanwhile. Like Arsenal’s number 34, Jashari is a left-footed central midfielder of Albanian descent. One who obviously possesses impressive leadership skills at a young age.
