Speaking on the Tottenham Fan Chris Cowlin YouTube channel, Express journalist Charlie Gordon has been discussing Spurs and their interest in Djed Spence.
It’s been reported for absolutely ages that Spurs want to sign Spence this summer, but, as of yet, there has been no real progress towards making a deal happen.
According to Gordon, Spurs and Boro are still some ways apart in their valuation of Spence, and sadly, Gordon doesn’t think this one will be resolved imminently.
Indeed, the journalist says Spurs are more than happy to play the waiting game with Boro as they know the Teessiders need to bring in the cash from this sale to kickstart their own summer window.

Gordon shared what he knows about Spence.
“Spurs have offered £10m for Spence at the moment, but Middlesbrough are holding out for £20m so there is a gap there. Spurs are playing the long game because they know Boro need the money to kickstart their summer, so they know that Boro will have to come down on their valuation at some point,” Gordon said.
“Basically, all things considered you would expect this deal to happen, but it may take a little bit of time to meet in the middle here.
“I think he’s an awesome player, Forest were upset when they lost Cash a few years ago, but I know a lot of their fans think Spence is even better than Cash was.”
Classic Levy
It has been reported recently that Daniel Levy has taken over the negotiations for Spence from Fabio Paratici, and, to be honest, we can tell.
This is a classic Levy move, and you, quite simply, have to admire it.
Most within football would cough up some extra cash and get this deal done, but Levy knows the position of power that Spurs are in, and he’s more than happy to wait for Boro to blink first.
As Gordon says, this deal will probably be done, but make no mistake about it, it will be done on Tottenham’s terms.
