Aston Villa midfielder, John McGinn, was seemingly unhappy with Leeds United on Twitter last night after they unwillingly used one of his jokes that was aimed at Liverpool.
With the proposed European Super League stealing the limelight, a lot has been said about the matter, far and wide, and with some even suggesting that a ‘nuclear war’ is brewing.
Well, Aston Villa’s very own funny man, John McGinn had his say on the matter and suggested that those teams involved should change their names, including Liverpool to Merseyside Red – of course, a reference to Pro Evolution Soccer.
And prior to Leeds’ 1-1 draw with Liverpool at Elland Road last night, the club’s official Twitter account opted to refer to the current Premier League champions as ‘Merseyside Red’.
And with McGinn having made that comment, the day before, he issued this response to the Twitter message:
Hopefully, McGinn will continue to aim such jibes when Villa take on Manchester City on Wednesday night – another team looking to fill their pockets.
At the end of the day, Villa have something in their cabinet those at the Etihad don’t – a European Cup.
But they needn’t worry, if they want a glimpse of it then they can see it when they are in the Villa Park tunnel on Wednesday.
It’s amazing how some of these teams, who have signed up to this so-called ‘European Super League’, don’t even have a European Cup in their cabinet.
