EXCLUSIVE from Graeme Bailey
Thiago Silva will leave Chelsea at the end of the season, HITC understands.
Sources have told HITC that Chelsea have decided not to hand Thiago Silva a new contract.
The Brazilian central defender is out of contract at the former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners at the end of the season.
Thiago Silva to leave Chelsea
Silva has been on the books of Chelsea since the summer of 2020 when he joined on a free transfer after leaving Paris Saint-Germain.
Although the 39-year-old has been one of the better players for the team over the years and is a fan favourite, Chelsea believe that this will be his final season with them.
Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino left the centre-back out of the starting lineup against Aston Villa in the FA Cup. Although Silva’s wife recently called for the Blues to axe Pochettino, sources insist that any decision on the player is an on-field one.

Silva has made 104 appearances in the Premier League for Chelsea. The defender has scored seven goals, given two assists and kept 31 clean sheets in those games. He has won the UEFA Champions League, the UEFA Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup with the London club.
Frank Lampard worked with Silva at Chelsea when he was in charge of the Blues, and he described the former AC Milan centre-back as “an amazing player”. Paul Merson also rates him highly.
Chelsea are 11th in the Premier League table at the moment with 31 points from 23 matches. The Blues are 16 points off the UEFA Champions League places.
Chelsea want Conor Gallagher to stay
HITC also understands that contract talks with Conor Gallagher have yet to take place.
However, sources insist that Chelsea will engage with the England international midfielder before the end of the season. Tottenham Hotspur wanted to sign him in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old is out of contract at the Blues in the summer of 2025. The midfielder has given four assists in 22 Premier League matches so far this season.
