Chris Sutton has praised the skill of Shakhtar Donetsk forward Mykhaylo Mudryk to decide ‘fine margins’ in the Champions League. His praise also comes amid interest from Arsenal.

The Gunners are among a clutch of clubs keeping tabs on the 21-year-old’s performances in view of a transfer. Mudryk has put talent spotters at some of Europe’s biggest clubs on high alert with his efforts this season. He has three goals and two assists in Europe already.

Mudryk added a third goal to his Champions League group stage tally after hitting home in a 1-1 draw with Celtic on Tuesday. The left-sided attacker had already scored once against the Hoops this term. He had also scored at RB Leipzig and created another two to win 4-1.

A Shakhtar Donetsk chief has confirmed Arsenal’s interest in Mudryk

Carlo Nicolini, Shakhtar Donetsk’s deputy sporting director, has confirmed that Arsenal are interested in Mudryk. The Italian told Calciomercato.it earlier this week: “Between Arsenal and Manchester City? They are two teams that have taken an interest in the player.”

Reports by iNews also claim Newcastle United are another club with a serious appreciation for the eight-cap international. The Toon are scouting him with Eddie Howe in the market for a winger. But they could face competition from Everton and Brentford for a £50m deal.

Mudryk will only strengthen his value and attract further interest all the while the Arsenal target dazzles in Europe. He scored a wonder strike to pull Shakhtar Donetsk level against Celtic this week. The Ukrainian broke at pace to hit the Hoops with a swift counterattack.

Further goals were on the cards for Mudryk at Parkhead, as well. Joe Hart had to do well to keep him from scoring again at full stretch just before half-time. The Krasnohrad-born star also showed he can be unselfish after setting up Danylo Sikan, who missed an empty net.

Mudryk is leaving Sutton in awe with his Champions League performances

Mudryk is leaving Sutton in awe with his performances in the Champions League this term. The former Celtic striker has waxed lyrical in his column for the Daily Record over how the Ukrainian superstar in the making is already proving to be the difference-maker in Europe.

“They are growing as a young side and have an exceptional talent at the top of the pitch in Mykhaylo Mudryk,” he wrote. “Guys like him are those fine margins at Champions League level. Mudryk had three chances in two games against Celtic.

“He smashed two of them past Joe Hart and put the third on an absolute plate for his sub colleague Danylo Sikan to miss the easiest chance I’ve ever seen squandered. Mudryk was clinical. That’s why Shakhtar are still able to qualify and Celtic not. Fine margins.”
