Leeds United midfielder, and Liverpool-born, Adam Forshaw, has posted the word ‘example’ on his Instagram story after he reacted to James Milner signing a new one-year contract.

With Milner’s contract running down at Anfield, there could have been the possibility that Milner returned to Leeds and to where it all started in his career.

But, at 36, he is still going as strong as ever, playing at the top level and hoping to push Liverpool to challenge for every major trophy again next season

The Reds won the FA Cup and League Cup this term, but missed out on the Premier League title on the final day and lost the Champions League final to Real Madrid.

And whilst there is a lot of talk about Mane and Salah’s futures on Merseyside, one man that will stay put is Milner and this is what the club posted about it today.

COULD MILNER RETURN TO LEEDS ONE DAY?

It has been some career from Milner, who started as a fresh-faced teenager at Leeds, before playing for Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Manchester City and now Liverpool.

But could he return to Leeds before he hangs up his boots? It would be something special if he spent his final season in the colours of his boyhood club.

Whilst the versatile player no longer plays on a regular basis, one thing is for sure, he is as valuable to a team, off the pitch, as those key players like Mo Salah and Virgil van Dijk are on it.

It wouldn’t be a surprise if one day the Englishman ends up in management because it seems as though he is made for it down the line.

But, for now, he is still adding another year to his trophy-laden career, and to put it into context, Harvey Elliott wasn’t even born when Milner started his career.
