Ian Wright has suggested that Arsenal should have signed a player like Cristiano Ronaldo this summer following the striker’s match-winning performance for Manchester United this weekend.
Speaking on Premier League Productions (16/04), the Arsenal icon claimed that Mikel Arteta’s side are missing out big-time on a talismanic striker who can change the tide of games in an instant.
The Gunners fell to their third defeat in a row in the Premier League this weekend as Arsenal lost 1-0 to Southampton, whilst Ronaldo fired a hat-trick to secure a 3-2 win for United against Norwich City.
The 37-year-old striker has been key to United’s top-four hopes, with the Manchester giants now above Arsenal in the Premier League table thanks to Ronaldo’s performance this weekend.
A lack of world-class attacker has hampered Arsenal greatly in the second half of the season, and for Wright, a Ronaldo-like signing is exactly what the Gunners need this summer if they’re to improve on their frontline.
Wright said: “He’s got 13 points alone from winning goals that he’s scored for them. That’s what you get at Man United. That’s exactly what Arsenal need, because if he wasn’t playing for United they’d be nowhere near where they are. That’s what you pay for and that’s what he’s delivered, he’s amazing.”
Arsenal need Ronaldo-like star this summer to challenge for top-four

Earning a reported £510,000-a-week, signing a player of Ronaldo’s quality will not be a small financial feat for Arsenal, yet with the club in desperate need for a world-class striker, it could be a risk worth taking.
Moreover, with reports already suggesting that a striker will be Arteta’s main transfer target, Arsenal fans could expect a Ronaldo-like forward to move to north London in the summer.
