Ex-Spurs ace David Ginola criticises Levy decision, before backtracking and praising Tottenham supremo

Daniel Levy remains an extremely divisive character at Tottenham Hotspur.

During an exclusive interview with the International Business Times, ex-Spurs ace David Ginola raved about Daniel Levy’s running of his former club, suggesting that other teams will try to emulate their business model.

Tottenham have really risen to prominence over the last few years, especially since appointing Mauricio Pochettino as manager in May 2014, and they are now considered to be genuine contenders for major honours on all fronts.

They currently sit in third position in the Premier League table, and have already secured qualification for the knock-out stages of the Champions league with two games to spare.

What makes the Lilywhites’ recent success all the more impressive is their relatively low net spend, as Daniel Levy continues to run a tight ship in north London.

Spurs seem to have put their Wembley hoodoo behind them, and things are certainly looking extremely rosy for them.

Ginola, who made 127 appearances for Tottenham, explained how his former team will now be looked at as an example of how to properly run a football club, during an exclusive interview with the International Business Times:

“When they sold Gareth Bale, they sold him for a €100m and they then spent a €100m, but it wasn’t money spent wisely. But it seems that it is not about the money you spend, because they were worried about this season. But look at this season so far, they are doing great, things are looking very promising for the future. Both performances against Real Madrid were fantastic. They will move to the new stadium next year and I think the way they have managed the club, you can hear from anyone out there that this should be taken as an example. This is something we should be proud of.”

Spurs’ recent transfer business will of course be judged come the end of the season, and if they do in fact manage to win either the Premier League title or the Champions League, then Levy and Pochettino truly will be looked upon as heroes at Tottenham.
