Former Rangers star Daniel Candeias thinks that Ibrox goalscoring machine Alfredo Morelos has “done his job” for the Light Blues and is “waiting to see him at Porto” as the Primeria Liga side drag their heels over the Gers’ asking price for the Colombian.

The Colombian appears to be heading for the Ibrox exit door this summer if anyone matches the Light Blues asking price for the club’s all-time record European goalscorer, with Porto reported to be offering a total of £17million.

Candeias thinks there are plenty of reasons why Porto would be “ideal” for El Bufalo, and claims he’s seen a change in the Rangers star recently after continuing to keep in contact with Morelos after leaving Ibrox himself.

“He loves Rangers and it’s a fantastic club, but after four years I think he’s done his job. He will always be an idol,” Candeias said, as quoted by the Scottish Sun.

“I think he wants to prove to himself he can now compete and shine at another club.

“Porto is ideal for him as there are so many attractions.

“They have direct access to the Champions League and there are the other Colombians in the squad. I think it will also help him play for the national team.

“I see a change in motivation. I’ve been getting involved with him, telling him that I’m waiting to see him at Porto.”

Rangers can’t allow Morelos to leave on the cheap

While it seem inevitable that Morelos will leave Rangers sooner rather than later, the Light Blues can’t let him walk away cheaply.

Despite the the reported fee of £17million getting close, Rangers will be hoping they can nudge it over the £20million mark before they look to sell.

With a massive season ahead for the Light Blues, they’ll want a deal done to sell Morelos early in the window to allow them the chance to reinforce Steven Gerrard’s squad.
