Erling Haaland was a no-show during the Norway vs. England game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Heading into the England game, Norway had been on a fairytale run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup as they had eliminated Brazil in the Round of 16.

Of course, Erling Haaland was at the center of it by bagging seven goals, including a brace vs. Brazil. However, Haaland failed to maintain that form against the Three Lions.

So much so that the superstar striker was substituted during extra time of arguably the most important game for Norway in the tournament.

Robert Griffin III calls out Norway manager for substituting Erling Haaland

Stale Solbakken taking Haaland out of the game meant Norway had raised the white flag come extra time. Evidently, fans didn’t like the controversial decision.

In fact, former NFL star Robert Griffin III shared a vicious reaction to the decision on X.

“Taking Haaland off the pitch in extra time when you are fighting for your World Cup life is certainly a choice. AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE DECISION,” RGIII tweeted.

While the reaction is understandable, there must be a solid reason behind it. Most fans are guessing it was due to an injury.

Moreover, Haaland looked sluggish in extra time and, to be honest, was completely out of Norway’s attack for the majority of the game.
