Kevin Nolan has stated that ‘everyone thought’ that England superstar Jude Bellingham wanted to join Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

The West Ham United coach added that Liverpool were supposed to ‘build around’ Jude Bellingham if he swapped the colours of Borussia Dortmund for Liverpool.

But, according to many reports doing the rounds this week, it’s bad news for the Anfield faithful – their club has decided to pull out of the race for the 19-year-old.

It shouldn’t be a surprise because Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), aren’t really known to splash the cash like their rivals.

Plus, the club’s current position doesn’t help matters, with Kevin Nolan sharing his thoughts on the whole situation, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.

“Everyone thought that Jude Bellingham preferred to go to Liverpool, they were then going to build on that and build around him,” said Nolan.

“I don’t know if the Liverpool hierarchy are thinking ‘he’s going to have to do it again’ (Klopp buying rough diamonds and transforming them) – and that’s what he sort of has to do again.

“I think that’s the most disappointing thing. When you think that Liverpool where they have been over the last three years. Last year, they played every single game. They needed help this season. This was going to hit them with this squad.”

LIVERPOOL’S NEXT BELLINGHAM WISH

Now that Liverpool won’t be getting Bellingham, unless there is a serious turn of events, then their next hope is that he stays put in Dortmund – he has been dubbed a ‘generational talent’.

Of course, there is every chance of that happening because of his age and the fact that he is a level-headed kid.

He’s not kicking and screaming to leave the club. Plus, Dortmund have proven in the past, if they don’t get the required money for Bellingham, then they won’t sell.
