Chris Sutton says Liverpool transfer target Sofyan Amrabat was ‘incredible’ at the 2022 Qatar World Cup for Morocco.
Whilst all the limelight is on Lionel Messi, the former striker also thinks that Amrabat, whose Morocco side reached the last four of the World Cup, is perhaps ’the Player of the Tournament’.
It may have ended with a defeat to Croatia in the third-place play-off, but it was a tournament for the ages for Morocco and one that will be written into the history books.

The first African side to reach the last four of a World Cup and with many players coming out of it all with their stocks well and truly through the roof.
Fiorentina midfielder Amrabat is certainly one of those players, with Chris Sutton sending the 26-year-old his flowers, as he told BBC Radio 5 Live Sport.
“Amrabat has arguably been the Player of the Tournament, for me,” said Sutton. “I know everybody bangs on about Messi. I get that.
“But he has been incredible.”

LIVERPOOL TO PUSH FOR AMRABAT
It would be interesting to know if Liverpool were keen or looking at Amrabat prior to his performances at the World Cup.
Rather than signing Arthur Melo on loan – and that from Serie A – Amrabat was one they possibly missed out on given the transfer fee they would have to pay for him now.
It’s been well-documented that Jurgen Klopp wants him on Merseyside, but Liverpool have been joined by high-flying Newcastle United in the race for his signature.
The crazy thing here is that, given how well Eddie Howe’s side are playing in comparison to Liverpool’s problems in midfield, then Amrabat gets the regular starts at Anfield than he does at St James’ Park, as of this moment in time.
