West Ham United are allegedly interested in signing Michael Keane this summer – but Jamie Carragher hasn’t been impressed with the Everton man.

Expect to see the Hammers linked with a host of centre backs ahead of the summer transfer window.

Kurt Zouma is injured and has had his off-field issues this season, Angelo Ogbonna is coming off a huge injury and turns 34 soon whilst Issa Diop’s future is unclear.

David Moyes is understandably looking for another centre back addition and could raid his former club Everton.

The Daily Star reported over the weekend that West Ham were keen to sign Keane from Everton.

Keane was coming through at Manchester Unite during Moyes’ time there and they could now reunite.

Everton paid £25million to sign Keane in 2017 but may now be willing to sell for a fee of just £20million if West Ham come calling.

Keane would likely admit himself that this hasn’t been his finest season in the Premier League.

The 29-year-old has struggled in a floundering Everton side this season as the Toffees attempt to avoid relegation.

Moyes may believe that he can revitalise Keane just as he has with Craig Dawson, and that move should appeal to Keane.

On Sunday, Keane was thrust into the Everton team just before kick off as Ben Godfrey pulled out injured.

Jamie Carragher reacted to that news by telling Sky Sports (24/04, 4:30pm) that the reason Keane was only named on the bench to begin with was because he has endured a ‘really poor season’.

Carragher urged Keane to recapture his ‘outstanding’ form from last season – but he couldn’t stop a 2-0 Liverpool win.

“The reason he’s had the late call is because he’s a really poor season, Michael Keane,” said Carragher. “He’s gonna have to perform exactly like he did in this fixture last season, when he was outstanding in keeping a clean sheet for Everton,” he added.

Keane recorded eight clearances, three aerial duels, two interceptions and one tackle, though completed just seven passes in 90 minutes.

If anybody can get Keane back on track, it may well be Moyes as West Ham eye a potential deal.
