Salernitana sporting director Morgan De Sanctis is interested in rivalling Torino and OGC Nice if Everton warm to granting the transfer of Neal Maupay.
That is according to Tutto Salernitana, which reports that De Sanctis is monitoring Maupay and Everton’s openness to his transfer.
De Sanctis had wanted to sign Maupay from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer but failed to reach an agreement. The 26-year-old would then head to Goodison Park, instead.

De Sanctis wanted Maupay before his transfer to Everton
Everton paid the Seagulls £15m to hand then-boss Frank Lampard another attacking option after seeing Dominic Calvert-Lewin suffer yet another injury.
But Maupay’s move to Merseyside has been a disaster with the Frenchman scoring once in 26 games for the Toffees. He has also laid on one assist in all competitions.
The former U21 international also recorded his sole goal in royal blue thus far in his second outing last September. Maupay secured Everton a 1-0 win over West Ham United.
Lampard placed his trust in Maupay upon the forward’s arrival from Brighton with Calvert-Lewin sidelined. Yet the striker has failed to justify his transfer since.
Sean Dyche replacing Lampard at the helm has not helped Maupay’s situation, either. The forward has only started 13 of his 26 appearances with 11 from 24 in the Premier League.

Salernitana face a number of rival suitors for the striker’s signature
Now, De Sanctis is looking at Maupay’s situation again in view of the striker’s transfer from Everton to Salernitana. But the attacker has a number of rival suitors.
Torino are also considering a move to tempt Maupay to Serie A with many Italian sides now potentially interested. He also has suitors in France and could return to Nice.
Maupay started his career with Nice and made 53 first-team appearances before moving to Saint-Etienne in 2015. Brentford later brought the striker to England in 2017.
A homecoming may appeal to the Versailles native. But De Sanctis is ready to bid if Everton let the sought-after striker leave Goodison Park over the summer.
