Everton want Steven Bergwijn and have now offered better terms than Ajax in the race to sign the Tottenham Hotspur winger.

Everton don’t have a huge budget to work with this summer and may need to get creative to bolster Frank Lampard’s squad.

We’re hearing plenty of rumours about Everton and Tottenham potentially doing deals this summer.

On Monday it was claimed that Tottenham wanted a double deal for Everton duo Richarlison and Anthony Gordon.

There were suggestions that Harry Winks could be part of a deal with Everton but it’s now Spurs teammate Bergwijn being linked.

Everton want Steven Bergwijn

Bergwijn has been heavily linked with Ajax of late and a deal has looked very close.

In fact, Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf reported on Monday that Ajax were ready to seal the deal to bring Bergwijn back to the Netherlands.

However, Everton are now trying to hijack the deal – and are offering greater terms than Ajax.

De Telegraaf claim that Everton are doing all they can to make sure that Bergwijn heads to Merseyside over Amsterdam by offering greater personal terms.

90Min back up those claims, stating that Everton’s contract offer is ‘much more lucrative’ than Ajax’s current proposal.

That report adds that Everton are open to signing Bergwijn as part of a deal that would send Richarlison to Tottenham.

Ajax haven’t met Tottenham’s asking price and if they can send Bergwijn to Everton and receive Richarlison, they would surely jump at the chance.

Bergwijn hasn’t been able to nail down a regular place in the Tottenham side and the time is right for him to move on.

Bergwijn is now left in a tricky spot; does he give Premier League football another go with a different club in Everton or head back to the Netherlands with Ajax?

That’s something for the winger to weigh up, but it sounds like Everton have a real shot at bringing Bergwijn to Goodison Park.
