Mexico and Olympics star Jorge Sanchez should seize the chance to play Premier League football with Everton should the Toffees firm up their interest, Club America teammate Oscar Jimenez has told W Deportes.

When one of your best players is being linked with a move during the final weeks of the transfer window, you’d think his teammates would be doing everything in their power to keep him around.

Jimenez, however, sees things differently.

The veteran goalkeeper knows opportunities like this don’t come around too often. And, when they do, you’d better snatch them before it’s too late.

After shining as Mexico reached the semi-finals at the Tokyo Olympics, Sanchez’s stock has never been higher.

Everton have made an enquiry, according to Goal Espana, and Jimenez would understand if the swashbuckling full-back decided this was a chance too good to miss.

“In my point of view, yes (Sanchez should go),” says Jimenez. “If there is an opportunity and it benefits the player and the club, go ahead.”

Will Mexico star Jorge Sanchez be Rafa Benitez’s fourth signing at Everton?

Sanchez, a right-back by trade but one equally comfortable on the left, would provide some valuable cover on the flanks as Rafael Benitez looks to build on Everton’s tenth place finish under Carlo Ancelotti last season.

The stocky 23-year-old would certainly be a more natural alternative than Ben Godfrey, allowing the club’s £25 million utility man to establish himself in his favoured centre-half position at last.

It’s understood Club America would demand about £7 million for Sanchez, a fee far less than PSV Eindhoven want for Denzel Dumfries.

Everton have also been linked with Norwich City flyer Max Aarons, although the England U21 international would cost somewhere in the region of £35 million after Daniel Farke’s side stormed to the Championship title in 2020/21.

Everton have only spent £2 million since Benitez’s arrival, bringing in Asmir Begovic, Andros Townsend and Demarai Gray.
