Jorge Sanchez has the “potential” to thrive in Europe should Premier League giants Everton secure a deal for the Mexico international, Club America teammate Sebastian Caceres has told ESPN.
If Rafa Benitez feels Everton would benefit from more cover for his full-backs, the Toffees could do worse than bring in a player who’s equally comfortable on the right and the left.
The versatile, two-footed Sanchez is a right-back by trade but has played on the opposite flank for a large portion of his career.
And, having shone at the Olympic games before Mexico lost to Brazil on penalties in the semi-finals, the 23-year-old has given his reputation an almighty shot in the arm with just a few weeks remaining in the transfer window.
Goal reports Everton are interested and will now weigh up whether to make a bid for a man renowned for his speed, tenacity and exciting, swashbuckling style.
Everton interested in Mexico’s Olympics ace Jorge Sanchez
“Jorge is an offensive wide player who is very good when he carries the ball,” says Caceres.

“Sebastian is a great player. To this day, I still don’t know if he is left or right-footed.
“But I think he has the potential to get there (to Europe). And if clubs are interested in him, then it’s not for nothing.”
Ben Godfrey impressed with his ability to fill in for Seamus Coleman and Lucas Digne last season but Sanchez would give Benitez a more natural option on the flanks.
There are also doubts over the future of Thierry Small. The youngest player in Everton’s history has been linked with a move to Arsenal or Manchester United.
