Everton want Samuel Chukwueze and have now made an approach to take the Villarreal winger on loan with an option to buy.
The Toffees are looking to strike a number of deals ahead of Thursday’s transfer deadline.
Midfielders have been heavily linked, with deals for Idrissa Gueye, James Garner and Mohammed Kudus seemingly in the works.
Everton are also seeking attacking firepower though and it now seems that another winger is on Frank Lampard’s wish list even after signing Dwight McNeil and seemingly keeping Anthony Gordon.
Everton want Samuel Chukwueze
Spanish newspaper Marca report that Villarreal are in talks with Everton over a deal for Chukwueze.
It’s suggested that Everton are willing to offer a loan deal with a €45million (£39million) mandatory purchase clause.
The report adds that, if that offer does arrive, then Villarreal will ultimately find it too difficult to say no.
The Daily Mail report similar about Chukwueze whilst Mundo Deportivo suggest that Chukwueze is ‘very close’ and ‘one step away’ from joining Everton.
Chukwueze, 23, notched seven goals and three assists in 38 games across all competitions for Villarreal last season.
A quick and skilful wide man, Chukwueze predominantly plays on the right flank but loves to cut inside onto his left foot.
Former Everton striker Samuel Eto’o has called Chukwueze an ‘incredible player’ but urged him to score more goals.
That’s the next hurdle for Chukwueze, who may not hope that a move to the Premier League can aid his development.
This would be a huge coup for Everton given that the likes of Arsenal and Liverpool have been linked with Chukwueze in the past.
Chukwueze notably scored a key goal against Bayern Munich earlier this year, sending Villarreal into the Champions League semi-finals against all odds.
Everton are now pushing to secure Chukwueze, enabling him to join Nigerian international teammate Alex Iwobi at Goodison Park.
