Everton are set to sign Ruben Vinagre with the Sporting left back having already completed the first part of his medical.

The start of the new Premier League season is drawing ever closer and Everton really need new signings.

James Tarkowski is the only new addition for Everton this summer and Frank Lampard needs much, much more quality in his ranks.

New director of football Kevin Thelwell is looking to strike deals and he appears to be signing a player he knows very well.

Everton are set to sign Ruben Vinagre

Reports from Portuguese newspaper Record earlier today claimed that Everton were very close to signing Sporting left back Ruben Vinagre.

It was claimed that Everton would be taking Vinagre on loan for the season, paying his wages in full whilst holding a permanent option.

The move seems to have advanced very quickly as Fabrizio Romano has taken to Twitter to claim that the deal is in place with a full agreement reached between the two clubs.

Romano claims that Vinagre has already completed the first part of his Everton medical this afternoon.

Vinagre is well-known to Thelwell; the Portuguese ace turned out for Wolves during Thelwell’s time as sporting director at Molineux.

Vinagre, 23, joined Wolves on loan from Monaco back in 2017 and signed permanently just a year later.

Despite technically spending four years on the Wolves books, Vinagre only played 69 times for Wolves in all competitions.

Loan spells with Olympiacos and Familicao didn’t help his cause and Wolves allowed Vinagre to join Sporting on loan last summer.

Vinagre played just 12 league games for Sporting but they still signed him permanently and now plan to move him on quickly.

Once hailed as ‘special’ by Nuno Espirito Santo, Vinagre has lost his way of late and now heads to Everton as competition for Vitality Mykolenko.

Quick and with some untapped potential, Vinagre will hope to get back on track once his Everton move is completed.
