Everton are now interested in signing Timothy Weah from Lille as Frank Lampard aims to improve his attacking options.

What’s the story?

Well, the Toffees are believed to be keen on bringing the United States international to Goodison Park – according to L’Equipe in France.

The French news outlet add that Fulham, Brighton and Sevilla are also interested in Weah – son of 1995 Ballon d’Or winner George Weah.

L’Equipe believe the American striker caught the eye of Everton with his impressive displays for the United States at the World Cup, where he scored one goal in four appearances.

Lille are said to value their No.22 at €15m (£13m).

Weah has struggled to find any rhythm for Lille so far this season, failing to score in ten appearances as he dealt with a foot injury throughout the first half of the campaign.

The 22-year-old has also found it difficult up against his teammates in the attacking department, with Jonathan David in particular keeping him sidelined due to some excellent displays.

The Canada international has scored 11 goals in 19 outings to keep Weah out of the starting XI.

Everton could sign a diamond in Timothy Weah

Admittedly, we know some Everton fans will turn their nose up at Weah’s goalscoring record this season.

However, there is a rough diamond there, who just needs to be polished.

The youngster has already won 29 caps for the United States, while also playing for some huge clubs in Paris Saint-Germain and Celtic.

During his time in Paris, Weah was also on the receiving end of some praise from Neymar, who made a bold statement in tipping the American to become one of the best in Europe one day.

The Brazil international said: “From what I’ve seen of his talent, he has everything to become one of the top attacking players in Europe.”

Be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as Everton could soon submit a bid.
