Everton want Levi Colwill but a loan deal for the Chelsea defender would see him miss the first game of the Premier League season.
The Toffees need reinforcements this summer to bolster Frank Lampard’s squad.
Everton narrowly escaped relegation at the end of last season and it’s imperative that Lampard is given new recruits.
James Tarkowski is set to join on a free transfer from Burnley but Everton may still move for another centre back.
Everton want Levi Colwill
It’s no great surprise to see Lampard being linked with Chelsea players; we know the Blues would probably do Lampard a favour if he asked.
The Sun reported in May that Lampard would love to sign Chelsea defender Levi Colwill on loan this summer.
The Express note that a permanent deal is very unlikely but a loan deal with promises of major playing time would appeal to Chelsea.
Colwill, 19, impressed on loan at Huddersfield Town this past season and could be a fine partner for Tarkowski at Everton.
Yet if Everton do strike a loan deal for Colwill this summer, he would immediately be blocked from making his debut on the opening day of the Premier League season.

The Premier League fixture list was released this morning and Everton have been matched up against Chelsea on the opening day of the season.
The story of Lampard managing against Chelsea on the opening day is a great one, and one that doesn’t feel all that randomly-generated.
Regardless, Lampard will be hoping to beat his former club and would have to do it without Colwill should a deal go through.
Premier League rules state that a loan player is ineligible to play against his parent club, meaning Colwill would be ruled out of a Goodison Park debut.
That likely won’t put Lampard off; it’s 38-game season and Colwill would be vital throughout if Everton sign him.
Yet being robbed of an opening-day debut would no doubt frustrate Colwill, especially if Everton win and other defenders nail down a place in the team ahead of him.
