Everton want to sign Levi Colwill with Frank Lampard seemingly seeking a favour from former club Chelsea over a potential deal for the defender.

Everton secured their Premier League status with a game to spare, so the final-day hammering at Arsenal didn’t end up mattering.

The Toffees just can’t afford to be in this position again next season and that means summer signings are vital.

Lampard will surely need to re-tool his squad and his back line, with some new blood needed at the back.

That’s where Chelsea youngster Colwill could arrive.

Everton want to sign Levi Colwill

The Sun report that Lampard wants to take 19-year-old Colwill to Everon this summer.

It’s suggested that Everton’s top scouts have been watching Colwill ahead of launching their move for him this summer.

We would assume that any Everton move would be a loan rather than a permanent deal,.

Colwill is currently on loan at Huddersfield Town and has helped them reach the Championship playoff final.

Colwill could now win promotion with Huddersfield and his performances are attracting major interest.

Everton want to give Colwill first-team action at Goodison Park but Crystal Palace are also interested.

Palace may not be able to promise as much first-team action though given that they already have Joachim Andersen and ex-Chelsea man Marc Guehi.

That stance on first-team action could see Everton beat Palace in the race for Colwill.

Chelsea may even need to utilise Colwill themselves next season with Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen on the move this summer.

Former Chelsea ace Paul Canoville has even predicted that Colwill become ‘far better’ than the departing Christensen.

That makes Everton’s pursuit a little tricky, but Lampard may hope for a favour from Chelsea – just like with Blues ace Conor Gallagher.
