Everton and Leeds United have suffered a blow in their hopes of signing Daichi Kamada, with Eintracht Frankfurt reportedly handing the attacker a contract extension to stay with the club.
According to journalist Florian Plettenberg via Twitter, the reigning UEFA Europa League champions are eager for the Japanese international to stay at the club, with Kamada subject to plenty of interest in the summer transfer window with the forward’s contract set to expire in 2023.
The 26-year-old attacker has been in impressive form this season for Frankfurt, with Kamada bagging six goals and three assists in all competitions. And the Bundesliga star’s form has seemingly caught the eye of Everton, with Bild recently reporting that the Asian superstar is on the Toffees’ radar, as well as Leeds.
With Sky Germany reporting that Frankfurt were open to selling Kamada in the summer for £13m, the versatile forward could be a cheap option for Everton and Leeds if the attacker rejects this latest contract extension from the Bundesliga side.
Indeed, with Kamada close to signing for Benfica in August, there’s a strong chance that the former Sint-Truidense VV superstar could dismiss Franfurt’s contract extension in the coming days. And for Leeds and Everton, there’s a chance that they could land themselves a bargain in January.
Kamada rejecting Frankfurt’s contract extension would be huge

Kamada has been one of the most dangerous attackers in both Europe and the Bundesliga for the past three seasons, and the Japanese international rejecting Frankfurt’s contract extension, especially after a good FIFA World Cup with Japan, could be huge for Everton or Leeds.
After all, the forward will likely be available for cheap with just six months left on his contract heading into January, and the Premier League could be an excellent destination for Kamada after impressing in the Bundesliga with Frankfurt for so many years.
