Everton want Daichi Kamada as they join Leeds United and Tottenham Hotspur in the race for the Eintracht Frankfurt playmaker’s signature.

The Toffees were interested in signing an attacking midfielder before the summer deadline but came up short.

A deal for Ajax ace Mohammed Kudus just wasn’t possible and his form means his price tag is on the way up.

Everton may look towards other alternatives in the January transfer window as Frank Lampard searches for more creativity in the final third.

Everton want Daichi Kamada

The latest name in the mix for Everton is Eintracht Frankfurt star Daichi Kamada.

German newspaper Bild report that Everton have Kamada on their list for January as they hope to push through a bargain deal.

Kamada is out of contract at the end of the season and can sign a pre-contract agreement to leave Frankfurt in January.

Everton’s task sounds difficult though, as it’s suggested that Kamada is now considering staying at Frankfurt.

Manager Oliver Glasner is desperate to keep Kamada and convinced him to snub a summer move to Benfica.

That means a move to Everton isn’t a key priority for Kamada but the Toffees may still try their luck in January.

Kamada, 26, has been in sensational form this season, racking up four goals and three assists in just six Bundesliga outings.

The Japanese international will be a wanted man thanks to his contract situation and Everton will face competition.

SPORT1 reported in July that Leeds United fancy signing Kamada and, going back a little further, Sport Bild noted that Tottenham Hotspur have been showing an interest in Kamada.

If Kamada does want a January move, Everton will be in a tough fight for the playmaker, whose attacking abilities are just what Everton are seeking going forward.

Kamada was praised as ‘exceptional’ by BT Sport’s Lucy Ward during commentary of West Ham United v Eintracht Frankfurt last season, a game in which Kamada scored at the London Stadium.

Almost exclusively deployed as a number 10, Kamada can help the likes of Neal Maupay and Dominic Calvert-Lewin whilst bringing something different to Everton’s workmanlike midfield options.
