Kevin Thelwell has only been in at Everton for a month but he has already pulled off a surprise move by bringing Dan Purdy back to Goodison Park.
Purdy decided to leave Everton alongside Marcel Brands and Gretar Steinsson back in December.
Purdy served as Everton’s manager of scouting and operations, taking on a key recruitment role with the Toffees.
After almost eight years at Everton, Purdy decided to leave with Rafael Benitez taking on more power at Goodison Park.
Yet with Benitez gone and a new director of football appointed in Thelwell, Purdy is seemingly returning to Everton.
Training Ground Guru report that Purdy has been convinced to return by Thelwell and started work back at Everton this week.
Purdy takes his old role back, managing scouting and operations ahead of the summer transfer window.
This move may not grab all that many headlines but it seems like a really smart move from Thelwell.
Purdy was part of the furniture at Everton, working his way up from a performance analysis intern to manager of scouting and operations.
Clearly a key part of Everton’s scouting team, Purdy had been at Everton through various managers before leaving just three months ago.

Thelwell has clearly understood Purdy’s importance and connection to Everton and quickly moved to bring him back.
That’s encouraging from Thelwell, indicating that he is willing to listen to key men around Goodison Park and gather their opinions.
That has resulted in Purdy’s return and hopefully Thelwell can continue to make more positive decisions for Everton moving forward.
With Everton battling against relegation, they need every boost they can get. Purdy’s return may not seem like a huge one on the face of it, but he is well-respected at Everton and can certainly help moving forward.
