Everton ace Andre Gomes has further endeared himself to the Goodison Park faithful with a good-willed fan engagement move which some hope is a hint at a possible permanent stay.

The 25-year-old, reportedly valued at £40million (Liverpool Echo), has made 26 top-flight appearances for Everton this season and 28 overall (Transfermarkt) and has impressed both the fanbase and first-team manager Marco Silva.

Gomes, currently on the books at Barcelona, did experience a slight downturn in form over the winter period but he bounced back and has gone on to play a key role in the Toffees’ strong finish to the season.

As things stand, the Portugal international’s loan will expire at the end of the season and he will return to Camp Nou in the summer, though some supporters have urged the club to get their chequebook out.

Indeed, after his debut at the heart of the midfield in Everton’s 2-0 win against Crystal Palace last October, some fans compared Gomes to Toffees legend Mikel Arteta, which is pretty high praise.

On Thursday, Gomes posted a Twitter message featuring a clip where he does a giveaway at the club shop:
