Darren Bent has said on talkSPORT (5:08pm, January 16 2022) that Everton should appoint Derby County boss Wayne Rooney as their new manager.
The former Tottenham Hotspur striker believes that Rooney, a former Everton player, would be perfect for the Toffees.
Everton are on the hunt for a new manager following the sacking of Rafael Benitez.
Former Liverpool manager Benitez was appointed in the role at Everton only in the summer of 2021.
Bent, who also played for Derby, believes that Rooney would be a good fir for Everton.
The talkSPORT pundit said: “For me, I would go Wayne Rooney all day. I feel bad saying this – I want Derby to do well, I want them to stay up, and I think if he was to leave their football club, that’s them they are almost doomed. He is doing this with no transfer budget, the administrators have been no help whatsoever.”

Wayne Rooney to leave Derby for Everton?
Sky Sports have reported that Rooney is one of the candidates for the Everton managerial role.
In our opinion, the former Manchester United star would be a good managerial appointment for the Toffees.
Rooney knows the club and has management experience at Derby where he has faced some hard times, both on the pitch and off it.
However, we do not think that Rooney will leave Derby now.
The Rams are in a bad situation at the moment and look set to play in League One next season.
Rooney has stuck with Derby through the bad period, and we do not think that the Englishman will leave them in the middle of the season.
Perhaps Rooney could move to Everton in the summer of 2022 after the season is finished, but not right now.
