Sean Dyche has endured a turbulent time as Everton boss since his 2023 arrival – and his start to the current campaign appears to be one of his darkest spells yet.

Sat rock bottom of the Premier League table after three games, it has been a dismal start to the season for Everton supporters.

Sean Dyche’s side were well beaten by Brighton and Tottenham in their opening two fixtures, most recently followed by a heart-breaking collapse against Bournemouth, which saw the Toffees somehow lose 3-2 despite being two goals to the good up until the 87th minute.

Having managed to survive relegation last season despite receiving two separate point deductions, this season was expected to be a fresh start for the Merseyside outfit – the results this season, however, paint a different picture.

With a potential takeover now on the cards, the pressure on Dyche seems to be mounting as Everton’s future owners reportedly look for change in the dugout.

John Textor eyes Abel Ferreria as Everton’s Sean Dyche replacement

John Textor is nearing a potential takeover of Everton and is reportedly already planning on who to bring in as his new manager.

Reports from The Sun state that the American businessman is said to be keen on bringing in Abel Ferreria as manager if he gains control of the Toffees.

Ferreria led Palmeiras to the Brazilian title last season, catching the eye of Textor who watched his title win closely due to his ownership of fellow Brazilian outfit Botafogo.

AC Milan boss Paulo Fonseca is also said to be on Textor’s wishlist but it would be not easy to tempt the Portuguese boss away from the Italian giants.

Who is Abel Ferreria and how does he compare to Sean Dyche?

A relatively unknown name outside of Portugal and Brazil, Ferreria played for the likes of Braga and Sporting CP during his playing career.

Following his retirement, the Portuguese boss moved into management, coaching the Braga youth team before becoming their permanent first-team manager in 2017.

Ferriera would eventually move on to Greek side POAK before moving to South America to take charge of Palmeiras.

Since arriving in Sao Paulo, the 45-year-old has transformed Palmeiras into one of Brazil’s most successful sides, winning the Campeonato Brasileiro Serie A twice as well as lifting the Copa Libertadores two occasions – racking up an impressive 1.95 PPG (points per game) in the process.

With that being said, it is worth taking a look at how Ferriera compares to current Everton boss Dyche.
