We’re only nine games into the season, but Jurgen Klopp has already admitted that Liverpool are no longer in the title race after a torrid start to the campaign.

The Reds have been perennial contenders for the Premier League crown over the past half a decade, but Klopp admits that there will be no title challenge from the Reds this term, conceding that they won’t be able to catch the likes of Manchester City this term.

Of course, City have won four of the last five Premier League titles, and with Liverpool out of the picture this year, one would imagine that City have a clear path to the title this season – especially as Erling Haaland is currently making the Premier League his playground.

Haaland and his City team has seemingly cost Liverpool the chance of even dreaming about challenging for a Premier League win after just a few weeks, but frustratingly, Haaland may have cost Liverpool a bit more than that.

Indeed, according to Ben Jacobs, Haaland has been in touch with Liverpool’s top midfield target, Jude Bellingham in an attempt to convince him to join Manchester City.

It’s long been thought that Bellingham would be headed to Anfield at the end of the season, but if you combine the Reds’ poor form with Haaland’’s incredible start at the Etihad, there’s reason to believe that he may choose to join City rather than Liverpool.

Think about it, Bellingham and Haaland are great friends from their time together at Borussia Dortmund, and after seeing the likes of Jadon Sancho, Ousmane Dembele and Christian Pulisic struggle after leaving BVB, Bellingham will want to give himself the best possible chance of succeeding.

Sadly, Liverpool aren’t a team that guarantees success right now, they’re currently having their worst start to a season in almost 10 years, while City are only going from strength to strength.

Haaland may well have cost Liverpool the chance to sign Bellingham.
