Celtic fans have taken to Twitter to react after hearing that Crystal Palace are preparing a £7m bid for Callum McGregor.
What’s the story?
Well, it was Homme du Match who made the claim, which seems to have angered some of the Celtic Park faithful.
The report states that Patrick Vieira’s side are planing to test Celtic’s resolve with a £7m offer, which seems doomed to fail in our view.
McGregor has three years remaining on his contract, and has just been handed the armband after Scott Brown’s departure.
If the 34-cap Scotland international’s contract was close to expiring, then perhaps a £7m offer would be suitable to test the water.
However, it would be an insulting bid given the current circumstances.
How much would Crystal Palace have to pay for Callum McGregor?

From our point of view, the Eagles would at least have to match the £25m Arsenal paid for Kieran Tierney back in 2019.
At the time, Tierney was arguably Celtic’s best player, and most important player, which is arguably what McGregor is now.
Celtic’s No.42 rose through the academy ranks at Celtic Park, and is a key member of Ange Postecoglou’s side in his new deep-lying No.6 role.
A £7m offer would surely get laughed out of Parkhead, in all honesty.

It doesn’t sound as if Vieira is putting all of his eggs into the McGregor basket, however.
Crystal Palace are also keen on Will Hughes and Lewis O’Brien, so perhaps McGregor is just another name on the shortlist.
For now, let’s see what the Celtic fans on Twitter have been saying about Crystal Palace’s interest in their captain…
