Seny Dieng has told BaZ that he is honoured by speculation linking him with Leeds United and Arsenal.
According to The Sunday Mirror (print edition, January 3, 2021), Arsenal and Leeds are interested in signing Dieng from Queens Park Rangers in the January transfer window.
Crystal Palace are also reported to be keen on securing the services of the 26-year-old goalkeeper this month, as covered by HITC Sport here.
The Swiss goalkeeper has established himself as the first choice between the posts, making 21 appearances in the Championship and one in the FA Cup for QPR so far this season, according to WhoScored.
Dieng told BaZ regarding Arsenal and Leeds links: “Coming to England without having played in Switzerland was not easy at all. When you’re young, you imagine everything to be a bit easier. I’m honoured by that (the transfer links).”
Stepping up
Rangers are a Championship club and are unlikely to get promoted to the Premier League anytime soon.
Leaving QPR for Leeds or Arsenal would be a step-up for the 26-year-old in his career.
Bernd Leno is the first-choice goalkeeper at Arsenal, but Dieng could get chances when he is injured and/or in cup competitions.
Illan Meslier is a regular between the posts for Leeds, but the Frenchman is only 20 years of age and could do with better competition than the one he is facing from Kiko Casilla right now.
