Tottenham Hotspur may be in the market for another wide man this summer as Ange Postecoglou weighs up the future of loanee Timo Werner.

Spurs stunned many by signing Werner on loan from RB Leipzig during the January transfer window.

The former Chelsea attacker had struggled in the Premier League and didn’t exactly recapture his best form upon returning to RB Leipzig.

Werner has mostly played down the left flank for Tottenham and has chipped in with two goals and three assists in 10 Premier League games.

Tottenham will now have to weigh up whether to buy Werner or send him back to Germany.

HITC Football understands that Tottenham can turn Werner’s loan move into a permanent deal for around £15.5million this summer.

The 28-year-old won’t be the only name on Tottenham’s radar though and other attackers are being tracked.

Tottenham fancy La Liga ace

Spurs are looking at other options and HITC Football understands that Athletic Club’s Nico Williams is a player of interest.

Williams has a release clause in his contract and Athletic have already teed up a deal for an apparent replacement in Braga’s Alvaro Djalo.

The 21-year-old has bagged six goals and 14 assists this season whilst dazzling on Athletic’s run to winning the Copa del Rey.

Athletic took home the trophy on Saturday evening, beating Mallorca on penalties.

Williams set up Athletic’s equaliser to make it 1-1, threading a superb ball into Oihan Sancet’s path.

Williams was a huge threat all night long and Tottenham will surely have been watching him closely ahead of the summer transfer window.

Terry Gibson on Nico Williams

La Liga expert Terry Gibson – a Tottenham fan and former Spurs player – has backed a move for Williams this summer.

Gibson watched on as Williams dazzled against Mallorca and took to social media to respond to questions about a potential Spurs transfer.

Gibson doesn’t want to see Williams replace Son Heung-min, but would love to see Tottenham be ‘greedy’ and have both players in Ange Postecoglou’s attack.

The former Spurs man added that Williams is ‘fantastic’ and compares well to Ousmane Dembele with his pace and trickery.

Gibson noted that the release clause is around €50million (£43million) and calls that deal ‘very appealing’.

A right-footed winger who can play on both flanks, Williams has bags of potential but Tottenham must decide whether to pay up for Werner or push the boat a little more for somebody with a huge future.
