One of the best players for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal this season has been Ben White.
Arsenal are ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League table. There is a very good chance that the Gunners could win the league title this season.
Ben White has been a consistent figure in the Arsenal team. While the likes of William Saliba, Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz have been getting the plaudits in recent weeks, we cannot overlook how good the former Leeds United loanee has been.
White is a centre-back by trade, but the 26-year-old is playing as a right-back. He has scored two goals and given four assists in 25 starts and two substitute appearances in the Premier League this season.
The defender has also made five starts and three substitute appearances in the UEFA Champions League for the Gunners this campaign.
Ray Parlour comments on Arsenal defender Ben White’s England decision
Ray Parlour has praised White for how he has done for Arsenal this season, but the former Gunners star is surprised that he does not want to play for England.
The talkSPORT pundit made the comments while reacting to England head coach Gareth Southgate’s claim that White has refused to play for the Three Lions.
Parlour said about White on talkSPORT (6:26 pm, March 15, 2024): “It’s a strange one because playing for your country is one of your proudest moments.

“It’s great playing for your club and being successful for your club, but to put on that England shirt, you know you are one of the best players in your country.
“So, surprised, but in this day and age, players make these big decisions. Will he regret it? Probably, if I am being honest because when you finish your career, very proud to say I would have loved to get more caps for England, but I didn’t and, you know, he is really really top-class player. He has been brilliant for Arsenal.
“I just put my Arsenal head on. He has been a consistent player, right-back, centre-back, can play anywhere in that back-four and he has been brilliant, but I don’t think he is in love with football.
“It’s a job for him, that’s how he looks at it, which I find quite strange because I love football. I was gutted when I had to leave.”
My View: Arsenal the winners in Ben White – England situation
In my opinion, Arsenal are the winners in the current situation involving Ben White and England.
If White does not play for England, then it means that the defender can focus only on Arsenal.
He would not get injured either on international duty because there would be no international duty for him.
